Leading talent and entertainment company United Talent Agency (UTA) today announced the creation of the UTA Opportunity Fund – aimed at providing critical support to current and prospective employees facing financial challenges as they build and maintain their careers within the entertainment industry. The initiative is primarily financed through employee contributions and reflects UTA’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce.

As the UTA Opportunity Fund has launched in recent months, UTA colleagues at all levels have been making contributions, both through one-time and recurring support. Assistance for individuals in-need is determined by an employee-led committee and, to date, aid has ranged from helping with a child’s monthly school tuition while the parent was dealing with unexpected funeral expenses, to providing a stipend to help an employee who sends money home each month to support his low-income family.

"Diversity is essential for any successful organization and we must remove the barriers that inhibit talented people from entering the industry. The Opportunity Fund is one way we can help to eliminate those obstacles, and ensure that the best talent, representing a diversity of ideas, finds its way into the UTA fold."

Blair Kohan

UTA Board Member

One recipient of support from the UTA Opportunity Fund said, “Without this award I would have had to seriously consider leaving UTA. The assistance put my mind at ease, and I could go back to focusing on my professional growth as opposed to my financial issues. It was truly an unexpected and appreciated blessing that changed the course of my career.”

The launch of the UTA Opportunity Fund is among UTA’s numerous initiatives focused on ensuring an inclusive workplace. Over the past year, UTA launched Employee Inclusion Groups to build community, celebrate diversity and support career development. UTA also began offering extended, gender-neutral parental leave of up to 16 weeks for the primary caregiver and up to six weeks for the secondary caregiver. Additionally, UTA provides contributions for egg-freezing and travel support for primary caregivers, as well as student loan support that has helped hundreds of its employees repay, manage and refinance their college loans.
