BIO

Laura Schroff is a Former Media Executive and International & #1 New York Times Best-Selling Author.

An Invisible Thread brings to life the inspiring true story of an 11-year-old panhandler, a busy sales executive, and their unlikely meeting in 1986, which spawned an incredible and unlikely friendship that would inevitably change both their lives forever.

Since the launch in November 2011, An Invisible Thread is the recipient of many prestigious awards, including a Christopher Award, a DreamCatcher Award, a Local Hometown Hero Award presented by New York Congressman Steve Israel and a finalist for Books for a Better Life. In 2014, Laura spoke at Leadercast alongside Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former First Lady Laura Bush, and bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell. Schools continue to adopt An Invisible Thread as a required read and Simon & Schuster Education Team has developed an ELA Common Core Standards Curriculum Guide for An Invisible Thread.

An Invisible Thread Christmas Story was released in September 2015 targets children ages 4 – 8. The sweet picture book retells the story of the first Christmas Laura and Maurice spent together. An Invisible Thread Christmas Story received a 2016 Christopher Award.

Angles on Earth, released in October 2016, explores the turning-point moments in all of our lives; the times when a simple gesture or act of kindness can change everything, and ripple outward into the world creating more goodness and hope.

An Invisible Thread Young Readers’ Edition, released May 7, 2019 is based on their true story and unlikely friendship and targets children ages 8-12.  It’s the story of the bond between a young eleven-year-old boy and a busy sales executive; a heartwarming journey of hope, kindness, adventure, and love – and the power of fate to help us find our way.

Over Laura’s thirty-year career in advertising sales, she has worked with several major media companies, including Time Inc. and Condé Nast. Born and raised on Long Island in New York, Laura was part of the advertising team that helped launch and make USA Today a successful national newspaper. Before helping launch three of the most successful start-ups in Time Inc. history—In Style, Teen PEOPLE, and PEOPLE StyleWatch, Laura was also the New York Division Manager at PEOPLE Magazine.
